I don't often open up about my life after the military--
because it was a rough time as I transitioned from sailor to civilian. It was a season of uncertainty and adjustment that eventually led me back to North Carolina, where I found myself living in my childhood home... again.
But, returning home marked the start of my healing journey. I was faced with the need to confront certain aspects of my past that had quietly shaped my life. During this time, I also came across programs like Step Up and Dress for Success Triangle. These programs provided me with the support and resources I needed to rebuild confidence and grow, both personally and professionally. I've come to believe that no experience is wasted and that there is purpose even in the most challenging moments—whether it's growing in discipline, character, and if I'm honest... empathy.
Looking back now, my life is very different from where it once was (by God's grace!). From staying with friends in Florida and selling my gold jewelry just to make ends meet, to moving to Raleigh and finding renewed hope after landing my first contract position in the IT field. My journey has been one of resilience and growth.
I had the skills and background needed to succeed, but Dress for Success gave me the confidence to rebuild.
This March, I am partnering with Dress for Success Triangle to donate a free pair of earrings for every $150 spent at Changed Impressions!
Making others feel special and confidence-building has always been close to my heart, and it ties deeply into my why I make jewelry. My hope is to send at least five pairs of earrings their way... so, will you join me in making this possible?
